This site will provide introductions, updates, reports and resources intended to help keep member associations, as well as mental health professionals, members of the public and media well informed as The Coalition continues through its mandate.

Vision & Mission Statement

The Coalition is an organization of like-minded partners dedicated to the recognition of the counselling and the psychotherapy professions in Ontario.

In fulfilling its mandate, the Coalition promotes the development of policies and practices for the provision of accessible, competent, and accountable counselling and psychotherapy services throughout the human lifespan in a manner sensitive to the pluralistic nature of society.

The Coalition strives to understand the needs of the diverse community of counsellors and psychotherapists in Ontario and aspires to being inclusive in its membership and a strong voice for the promotion of counselling and psychotherapy.

Goals

  • To be the public voice of non-statutory self-regulating mental health professionals in Ontario . The Coalition will speak to government, related professions, the media and the public alike;
  • To seek government regulation of non-statutory self-regulating mental health professionals as indispensable members of the health care system in Ontario ;
  • To research awareness of the issues and their implications among professionals, government and other stakeholders.

The Ontario Coalition of Mental Health Professionals (the Coalition) is an umbrella organization whose members are professional associations in the field of mental health. The Coalition was formed to address the issue of regulating counselling and psychotherapy in Ontario.
